Eyecare.

Our professional optometrists will evaluate your visual needs by combining modern examination techniques with a discussion to highlight your visual requirements. They will then issue a prescription, if required, and explain any changes to either the focusing system or the health of the eye.
If further examination or tests are required you will be referred to your general practitioner or, in some cases, directly to the ophthalmic department at a local hospital.
Your eye examination will include:-
- History and Symptoms - we will discuss any previous problems you might have had with your eyesight and general health as well as talking about any current areas of difficulty.
- Refraction - assisted by computer based technologies we will determine which lenses are required to give you the very best vision possible for specific visual tasks e.g. driving, VDU use, reading etc.
- Binocular assessment - we will consider how well your eyes work as a team together and think about ways of making them fully contribute to comfortable, strain-free long term vision.
- Ocular Health - we will look at the back of the eyes to see if there are signs of ill health whether due specifically to ocular disease or a more general systemic malfunctions.
We will measure the intra-ocular pressure to ensure there is no glaucoma in the older eye and have the facility to perform tests investigating peripheral visual fields. We are constantly updating our equipment and some practices have the facility to take photographs of the retina to help identify and monitor ocular disease. - Ancillary tests - we will always add extra tests when there is clinical validity in making the measurements and have equipment to review a wide range of further issues such as colour vision or depth perception.
